Different types of plastic

What do the numbers 1-7 mean?

The numbers are used to identify the material. Recycling codes 1 to 7 apply to plastics. The Resin Identification Codes (RIC) were published in 1988 by the Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI). The additional letter abbreviations correspond to the abbreviations for plastics standardised in accordance with DIN EN ISO 1043.
