Competence Center
The Association of Swiss Plastic Recyclers (VSPR) is the competence center and mouthpiece for companies, municipalities, cities and consumers who are committed to environmentally conscious and sustainable material cycles in the field of plastic recycling. In addition to the recycling of packaging, the VSPR also promotes the recycling of plastic waste from industry, commerce and agriculture. The VSPR is the central point of contact for all questions relating to plastics recycling in Switzerland.
Important facts
- In 2023, the VSPR licensees collected 10,200 tons of mixed plastic waste, which saved 28,866 tons of CO2.
- Over 900 municipalities are affiliated to a certified collection scheme for mixed plastic waste. That is 43.0% of all municipalities in Switzerland and Liechtenstein and 56.0% in terms of population.
- The proportion of the collection volume that could be recycled rose from 53.0% to 54.6% in 2023.
Sustainable plastic recycling
The VSPR works in accordance with the Charter for Plastic Recycling in Switzerland. It defines the requirements for the collection and recycling of plastic waste from households. Compliance with the charter guarantees and ensures the sustainability of plastic recycling. The aim is also to achieve high recycling quality and a continuous improvement in the recycling rate.
