The competence center
The Swiss Plastic Recyclers Association (VSPR) is the competence center for plastics recycling in Switzerland. We network municipalities, collection systems and recycling companies with the aim of recycling plastics to a high standard and closing the loop. Our focus is on sustainability, quality and transparency - for a sustainable circular economy.
Facts & Figures
In 2023, the VSPR licensees collected 10,200 tons of mixed plastic waste, saving 28,866 tons of CO2. Over 900 municipalities, or 43.0 % of all municipalities in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, participate in certified collection - this corresponds to 56.0 % of the population. The proportion of waste that could be recycled rose from 53.0 % to 54.6 %.
Recycling charter
The Swiss Plastics Charter forms the basis of our work. It defines clear requirements for the collection, sorting and recycling of household plastics.
New: Since 2024, all sorting waste from abroad must be thermally recycled in Switzerland - for more control and environmental protection.
The goals are:
