Where is the most plastic collected per inhabitant?
As part of the monitoring report, the collection volumes per canton and inhabitant are also recorded. This year, the major cantonal ranking will also take place: In 2023, the canton of Uri is once again the leader with 4.8 kg of collected plastic waste per inhabitant (kg/e.). It is now followed by the canton of Thurgau with 3.1 kg/E and the Principality of Liechtenstein with 2.8 kg/E. In terms of the amount of plastic actually collected, the canton of Zurich is just ahead of the canton of Aargau with 1,634 tons (1,440 tons). The cantons of Bern with 1,017 tons, Thurgau with 899 tons and St. Gallen with 782 tons follow in 3rd to 5th place.
